The Economists Intelligence Unit reported that a company’s profit and market share would significantly increase with improved “cross border communication” according to 90% of global executives surveyed.

However, it doesn’t take much to lose business as almost half of those respondents said that minor misunderstandings could negatively affect international business deals.

Companies with employees having less-than-adequate language skills generally experience business inefficiencies. And often, project failure, as ineffective communication negatively impacts project success.

A survey on the cost of poor communications to 400 companies with 100,000 employees each have revealed an average annual loss per company of more than $62 million, all because of inadequate communication to, and between, employees.

A study by PeopleKeep.com, suggests each time a business replaces one of their salaried employees, the cost to the company can average six to nine months of that employees’ salary.

The speed, colloquialisms and pronunciation of non-native English speakers may be difficult to understand and prove less than desirable in the business setting.

Using Versant language assessment testing, companies can find employees that demonstrate fluency and competence in both speaking and writing. Additionally, the Versant 4 Skills Test will assess a candidate’s English skill in:
